Until year-end 2016 was Senior Vice President of Information Technology at Yara International ASA, the world’s largest fertilizer company. He has more than 30 years’ experience in information technology from multi-industry spanning from Chemical | Manufacturing | Oil & Gas | Seismic Exploration.
At Yara, Bassim had overall responsibility for Information Technology across 160 worldwide locations spanning four continents. His team of 300+ support 13,000 end users globally.
Bassim has won several awards including CIO of the year 2012 Norway and as European CIO of the Year in the Business Process Driven category by CIONET International judged by INSEAD.
As a turnaround, CIO with a knack for delivering sustainable results. He thrives in challenging, ambiguous environments. He formulates and implement strategies that lead to exponential performance, operational excellence, aligned with business model and top results, rolling up his sleeves to get it done with exacting standards, inclusiveness, and humor.
Bassim also led IT and business integration efforts during M&A and divestment activities, as well as setting-up and managing large outsourcing deals in IT and BPO. Bassim has worked on several successful turnaround and transformation programs. He is most endorsed for IT Strategy, outsourcing, IT management, change management and has strong capabilities in organization building, governance and business stakeholder management and alignment.
He manages IT with emphasis on information orientation usage, analytics, business process management and improvement.
Bassim is Member, SAP Chemical Advisory Board, a frequent speaker at conferences and CIO Roundtables, European Jury member for CIONET, was a member of SAP Quality Awards Regional Judging Panel (Europe, Middle East and Africa) for large transformation also served 4 years as Deputy Member of Statoil General Assembly.
